Last month, we released the first tool in our new Site Overview feature set - a Google Search Console integration that provides additional views on overall performance trends.

Today, we are launching Domain Research, a market research and benchmarking tool for your sites, competitors, and new research projects. Within the Site Overview toolset, it is referred to as Domain Overview.

The idea behind Domain Research is simple: enter any domain and get a full competitive briefing in about 60 seconds.

Brand intelligence and market position

When you enter a domain, Domain Research gathers key facts about the brand and its market:

  • Site metadata and screenshot with an AI-generated brand summary

  • Social media accounts discovered across all major platforms

  • Public vs. private classification with estimated or reported revenue

  • Market position tags and site type classification (ecommerce, SaaS, etc.)

  • Estimated Total Addressable Market (TAM) and the domain’s current share

  • Key products and services identified from the site

Sentiment and brand perception

Domain Research analyzes how the market perceives a brand across positive, neutral, and negative dimensions, broken down by topic.

Domain Research sentiment analysis

  • Market sentiment with positive, neutral, and negative breakdown by topic

  • Up to 3 brand personas based on the brand’s positioning and audience

Competitive quadrant and competitor mapping

One of the most useful outputs is the competitive quadrant, which maps momentum vs. presence for a domain and its competitors. You can see at a glance who is gaining ground and who is established but stalling.

Domain Research competitive quadrant

  • Competitive quadrant analysis mapping momentum vs. presence relative to competitors

  • Up to 20 key competitors with website, HQ location, public vs. private status, and estimated revenue

Strategic keywords and prompts

Domain Research identifies the search terms and AI prompts a brand should own - split into branded, non-branded, and core strategic categories.

Domain Research strategic keywords

  • 50 strategic keywords the brand should own

  • 50 strategic prompts the brand should own across AI search engines

  • Key search topics broken down into branded, non-branded, and core/strategic

How to use it

Domain Research is designed for several workflows:

New site setup. When you add a new site or competitor to DemandMetrics, run Domain Research first. It gives you instant context on who the real competitors are, what keywords matter, and where the market stands.

Competitive briefings. Generate structured competitive reports for stakeholders. Revenue estimates, market positioning, and search ownership data in a format ready to share.

Market exploration. Research any domain in any market. Evaluate potential partners, acquisition targets, or new verticals with structured intelligence rather than hours of manual research.

API and Agents

Domain Research has a full REST API, so you can integrate it into your own tools and workflows.

It is also available as a node type in DemandSphere Agents, our visual workflow automation builder. Build workflows that research domains automatically and deliver briefings to Slack, email, or your CMS.

We have more capabilities planned for this tool and look forward to hearing what you think.
