I had the chance to present at MKE DMC in Milwaukee last week on a topic I don’t often get to talk about publicly: Data Strategy & Engineering for Agentic Workflows.

Thanks to Tyler Einberger, Renee Girard, Tony Van Hart, Steve Kroll, Casey Cuene, and the whole MKE DMC crew for having me out. Great group with sharp questions.

What the talk covers

We approached this from the perspective of building products. I spent some time at the beginning framing what I believe we are witnessing right now - a fundamental shift in how software gets built and how data moves through organizations.

From there we got into:

  • Vibe coding vs. AI-driven engineering - how they relate to each other and where the line is
  • Founder mode vs. manager mode - and what changes when AI is doing most of the execution
  • The new SaaS - what product development looks like when you can ship 10x faster
  • AI-driven engineering in team environments - how this works beyond solo founders
  • MCP and MCP security - the Model Context Protocol, what it enables, and where the risks are
  • Claude Code and other coding agents - tools we use daily and how they fit into real workflows
  • What comes next - where all of this is heading

Watch and slides

The audio recording came out better than the video, so the YouTube link below is audio-only with slides. The Q&A at the end had some great questions - I didn’t capture the audience audio well but hopefully my answers provide enough context.
