Current Trends in Marketing A New Found Friday Series

Marketing is evolving and changing so fast that it’s almost impossible to keep up with the latest trends and topics. The problem is, keeping up is exactly what we need to do to stay current and relevant. If you’re like me, your inbox is overflowing with things you should read and there are a list of conferences, articles, and blogs that you will never get to, despite your best efforts.

FOUND Friday Series: Current Trends in Marketing

In response to marketers need to know, we’ve designed a Found Friday series with the overstretched in mind. Beginning September 18 at 1 pm EDT/ 10 am PDT we’re starting: Current Trends in Marketing, a three-part series based on our conversations and experiences at CMWorld.
During the series, we’ll be discussing three of the hot topics we heard at the conference:

  • The Challenges of Content Initiatives: Getting Executive Buy-In
  • The Content Conundrum: What Happens When Content Doesn’t Go Your Way
  • The Technology Challenge: How Much Tech Knowledge is Necessary For Future Marketers

The Challenge of Content Initiatives: Getting Executive Buy-in

For many marketers in large organizations, this is not a new problem. The marketers we spoke to complained, “My executive team doesn’t buy into this” or “How do I get this information to my executive team.”
In this episode we’ll address those concerns and offer some ideas for getting your foot in the door with the C-Suite to get the support you need.  We’ll talk about the language of the C-Suite and how to present your initiatives in ways that will get their attention.

The Content Conundrum: What Happens When Content Doesn’t Go Your Way

If you were a presenter, or even if you were just an attendee, you probably experienced some moments when you realized that the presentation or discussion wasn’t going exactly as planned. In some cases, it could have been a case of technical difficulties, in others guests or speakers may have said some things that didn’t reflect particularly well on the brand or others.
In this episode, we’re going to discuss the pros and cons of various reactions to the same problem. If you have an example of when this had happened to you, or to someone else, share the experience and we’ll include it in our discussion.

The Technology Challenge: How Much Tech Knowledge is Necessary For Future Marketers

The advent of the Chief Marketing Technologist has given rise to a call for marketers with more technical savvy. The question is, how much technological knowledge is really necessary to be successful in marketing and how will that skill set requirement change in the future?
In this episode, we’ll talk about the difference between being able to use the tools available and the deeper understanding of how the technology that makes them tick works. Besides the skills and knowledge required now, we’ll discuss where we see trends going in the future and some predictions about how tools and people will evolve to meet the challenges.
